Michigan’s upper peninsula is trapped under what seems like permafrost for most of the year. This chilling effect makes the landmass more comfortable with stationary lives rather than lives spent outside its natural sprawl. Hot Mulligan may have been born in this green giant, but they escaped its clutches shortly after high school to beat pavement and their own neuroses-at the same time. Since 2014, the five-piece has gained ground for their earnest approach to songwriting, melding together the ferocious riffs of pop punk’s latest wave with the tenacious vulnerability of indie rock. The marriage is one shared by many bands, but on Opportunities - their latest EP earning a re-release via No Sleep Records - the courtship entangles itself in new territories, mostly in those characterized by cavernous percussion, hooks so buoyant they bob up and down, and guitar and synth interplay that belong to a much older, bolder band. The future is full of other excuses to keep moving, and for Hot Mulligan, they’re easily jumping at the chance to speed up. ~James Cassar
Prince Daddy & The Hyena are an American emo/punk band from Albany, New York. Formation and early years The band formed in 2014 after Kory Gregory, Alex Ziembiec and Zakariya Houacine saw Rozwell Kid. According to Gregory, Rozwell Kid influenced a lot of his early songwriting. Prince Daddy & The Hyena began in 2015 with the release of an extended play titled Adult Summers. They later released their first full-length album titled I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving in 2016 on Broken World Media. Cosmic Thrill Seekers & Bleached Hair Kory Three years later, the band released its second full-length album titled Cosmic Thrill Seekers on Counter Intuitive Records, and embarked on several extensive tours in support of the album. The band went on tour Europe with Oso Oso in further support of the record in the fall of 2019. In 2020 Kory Gregory bleached his hair as the band embarked on their co-headlining tour with Oso Oso with support from Just Friends.
Sincere Engineer is Deanna Belos with an acoustic guitar. Her dark and introspective songwriting clashes with the fact that she's a vibrant lil goofball in real life, yet somehow she maintains her ability to be authentic.
